This is Crazy Daze. How crazy is it...let me tell you.
Nikela Burns is a struggling actress and substitute teacher in Watts who's always finding
herself in trouble in the best tradition of an African-American Lucille Ball.
Nikela considers herself a serious actress, but nobody else does. And in all of her swirling
madness, every so often a kid comes from out of the blue, into the blues of Nikela, and drops
pearls of wisdom at her feet. Where do these kids come from?
Who knows, they just show up at opportune times. Surrounding Nikela is her group of friends
"The United Colors of Benetton."
Robbie, he's a stay -at -home mom who plays poker with the other stay- at- home moms for
store coupons.
Grace, the chameleon of the group just goes with the flow of life. No one ever knows which
Grace is going to show up or where she is flowing that day.
Anne, a free spirited, gluten-free, organic, tree-hugging first grade teacher in Watts is always
trying to get her students to find their inner selves through meditation. Her husband Dave, a
police officer who is an obnoxious, self obsessed narcissist, protects his donuts more than the community.
And then there's Latrice, Nikela's over bearing, neat-freak sister. But without her, Nikela
would be homeless.
Crazy Daze encompasses Nikela's outrageous life and her dysfunctional group of friends with a
diverse perspective; along with sudden appearances and disappearances of kids who offer
Nikela cryptic words of wisdom that we hope, Nikela will eventually take to heart.
This series crosses I Love Lucy and Friends with strange, crazy, unexpected surprises all
wrapped up in a human comedy of errors..
